ABOUT THE PLAY
This is the first ever stage play of Yes, Prime Minister from the original writers of the hit BBC TV series. Jonathan Lynn and Antony Jay have honed their razor sharp wits once more to create a riveting and hilarious dilemma for Britain’s most trusted leader.
Set in the present day, in the oak panelled drawing room at Chequers, the British Prime Minister’s official country residence, the Embattled PM, Sir Humphrey and Bernard face their greatest challenge yet. With help and hindrance from inquisitive journalists, a new generation of special advisors and an oil rich Ambassador with a most disturbing interest in foreign affairs, the play engages audiences with the best of comedy and the worst of politics.
‘Jim Hacker and Sir Humphrey Appleby are back and in truly vintage form. The comedy remains as politically sharp and as blissfully funny as ever’
Times have changed ! The European Union is in financial meltdown and Hacker is hanging onto power by a thread as he heads up a minority government. Then the oil-rich country of Kumranistan throws a potential lifeline – a multi-trillion dollar infrastructure deal which could save the British economy. Closing the deal, however, will be tricky, and may require some rather unsavory bargaining. Hacker and his team meet at Chequers, to navigate the political and moral minefield and evade the ever-present media who will, of course, try to catch them out.
Will Sir Humphrey obfuscate the situation? Will Bernard prevaricate? Will Jim rise to the occasion?
‘The audience loved it. A HIT!’ Daily Mail
